Saturday rollover on Highway 2 sends one man to hospital with serious injuries

A male was taken to hospital late Saturday evening after the vehicle he was driving rolled after he tried to pass on the shoulder.

A male was taken to hospital late Saturday evening after the vehicle he was driving rolled after he tried to pass on the shoulder.

Blackfalds RCMP were called to the scene just off Hwy 2 between the 32nd and 67th Street exits near Red Deer at about 10:40 p.m.

Police said the vehicle attempted to pass another vehicle on the shoulder, but instead rolled into the east ditch several times before coming to a rest.

No other vehicles were reported damaged in the collision.

The male driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital by EMS with serious injuries.

Police are not releasing the name of the driver and do not believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.
