A fundraising walk or run will be held Sunday in Sylvan Lake for a group that helps people who suffer from the skin-thickening autoimmune disease scleroderma.

The one-kilometre annual Walk or Run in the Park for Scleroderma will be held at 11 a.m. at Centennial Park Playground on Lakeshore Drive.

To register, donate, or support a walker, visit the website www.sclerodermawalkrun.ca/sylvan.

Scleroderma is a group of autoimmune diseases that may result in changes to the connective tissue, skin, blood vessels, muscles and internal organs.

About three out of 100,000 people a year develop the systemic form that often begins in middle age, affecting more women than men.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Scleroderma Canada and Scleroderma Alberta.
