Search leads to man’s arrest after woman’s body found outside Calgary home

CALGARY — A woman is dead after an overnight stabbing in Calgary.

Police say the woman’s body was found in the front yard when emergency crews arrived at a southwest-area fourplex-style home shortly before 3 a.m.

The residence was taped off while tactical officers and the canine unit blocked off the area.

Police searched the neighbourhood and the nearby community of Bankview before identifying and arresting a man in the downtown core.

There was no immediate word on charges.

The homicide unit says based on the evidence so far, they do not believe the stabbing was random.
