The North Central Senior AA Hockey League won’t move forward with the 2020-21 season.

In an 8-1 vote at its Oct. 14 meeting, the nine-team league decided to cancel the season in its entirety due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. They are hoping to return next fall.

The Lacome Senior AA Generals said in a statement that due to health concerns, the league made the decision to cancel the season.

“Our organization will be prepared for the 2021/22 season and look forward to stepping on the ice for the amazing hometown crowd once again,” they said.

The Red Deer Rustlers, who play out of Penhold and the Blackfalds Wranglers, were also participants in the league last season.

In August, the league deferred the start of the season until Dec. 4.
