A second death has been linked to the Olymel COVID-19 outbreak, Alberta Health has confirmed.
A man in his 50s, within the central zone, has died. A spokesperson for Alberta Health said this death will be reflected in Friday’s provincial COVID-19 update. The first death was Jan. 28.
The pork-processing plant temporarily shut down recently amid the outbreak.
There are now 488 COVID-19 cases linked to the outbreak at the Olymel meat processing plant, according to Alberta Health on Thursday. Of those cases, 171 are active and 316 are recovered.
