The investigation indicates a refrigerated transport truck drove off the highway and impacted the cement arch of the overpass. The contents of the truck, which was raw beef, were spilled onto the bank and onto Highway 616.
Alberta Transportation will conduct a safety assessment of the bridge.
Cleanup is anticipated to be completed by 8 p.m. Wednesday.
