Service for hockey player set for Wednesday

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at Olds High School for Red Deer Optimist Chiefs player Ryan McBeath.

The 17-year-old from Olds was killed Tuesday in a vehicle collision. McBeath was Chiefs assistant captain and had just finished his season about a week ago.

A service will take place at 2 p.m. in the high school located in the Ralph Klein Centre. Those coming are asked to wear their hockey jerseys in memory of the young athlete.

Social media has been filled with condolences from friends, teammates and others who knew McBeath.

Condolences can also be posted with Heartland Funeral Services.
