The Shelter Ribfest returned to Red Deer over the weekend.

The event, featuring four award-winning rib teams based in the United States, was held in Westerner Park’s north parking lot from Friday to Sunday.

This is the second-ever Shelter Ribfest – the first was held in 2019. There was no event in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All proceeds raised at the event will go towards the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter.

CAWES offers safe refuge, personal counselling and community support for families experiencing family violence, according to the shelter’s website.
