Shooting south of Red Deer leaves one man dead

RCMP are investigating a shooting at a Red Deer County property south of Red Deer on Monday afternoon.

Blackfalds RCMP said a complaint was received about a residential break and enter in progress off C & E Trail at 3:11 p.m.

Police said officers discovered that the homeowner was injured, and another man in the residence had been fatally shot.

The homeowner was transported to the hospital where he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in and took over the investigation.

Police said there was no ongoing danger to the public.
