Shorter hours, closures at Red Deer recreation facilities over holidays

Throughout the holiday season, transit services and some City of Red Deer facilities will be closed or have reduced hours.

Throughout the holiday season, transit services and some City of Red Deer facilities will be closed or have reduced hours.

City Hall offices will be closed from Dec. 27 to Jan. 3. Normal hours of operation will resume Jan. 4.

Additionally, the Red Deer RCMP’s downtown detachment (4602-51 Avenue) will be closed Dec. 27, Dec. 28, as well as Jan. 3. The emergency and non-emergency lines will not be impacted by the holidays. In-person customer service will be available through Dec. 29 to 31, and resume on Jan. 4.

The Red Deer Intermediate School will be closed Dec. 24 to Jan. 3.

City recreation facilities will continue with normal operating hours with the following exceptions:

All recreation facilities will be closed on Christmas Day.

The Collicutt Centre and G.H. Dawe Community Centre will close at 3:00 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 31.

The two facilities will open from 12 – 5:00 p.m. on Dec. 26 and Jan. 1.

As well as being closed on Christmas Day, the Michener Aquatic Centre will also be closed on Dec. 26 and Jan. 1, and will open on Dec. 24 and 31 until 1 p.m.

The Recreation Centre will be closed from Dec. 25 to Jan. 3, for annual shutdown.

There will be no impact to cart collection over the holiday season. Residents are to set out carts on their usual collection day.

Red Deer transit hours will also be reduced during the holidays, including no service on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. There will be some limited, pre-booked Action Bus Service on Dec. 25.
