Stettler RCMP are still trying to track down the victim of an alleged assault that occurred, south of Buffalo Lake, a week ago.

Stettler RCMP said now it appears that a firearm was not discharged during the incident.

In a press release, police said the information that a firearm was discharged during the incident was “unreliable,” but said they couldn’t disclose more details at this time, only saying that “Charges are pending in relation to this aspect of the investigation.”

RCMP are still looking for both the male suspect and the victim after a witness reported seeing a young woman being violently assaulted outside of a vehicle that had stopped alongside Hwy 601, south of Buffalo Lake, at about noon on Oct. 6

The male is described as being in his late 20s, with a light complexion, brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing a black hoodie with white markings at the time of the alleged incident.

The female victim is described as a petite blond with blue eyes, estimated to be in her late teens or early 20s.

Anyone who can provide information related to the attack is asked to contact the Stettler RCMP at 403-742-3382 or their local police department. To remain anonymous, please visit www.tipsubmit.com or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-822-8477.
