Shotgun, drugs found during traffic stop in Lacombe

Two people were charged after Lacombe Police found an unlicensed shotgun and $60,000 worth of cocaine during a traffic stop.

Two people were charged after Lacombe Police found an unlicensed shotgun and $60,000 worth of cocaine during a traffic stop.

Police stopped a vehicle travelling eastbound on 50 Avenue in Lacombe Feb. 13.

After the driver pulled over, officers searched the vehicle, finding 779 grams of cocaine, a 12 gauge shotgun, ammunition, cash and items commonly associated with distributing drugs.

A 36-year-old Drayton Valley man is facing a number of charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of an unauthorized firearm.

A 21-year-old Lindale woman is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The two will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court March 1.
