Indie-folk rocker Tennyson King will be playing Red Deer’s The Velvet Olive Lounge on Aug. 26.

King released his debut album, Good Company, in January. Hailing from Hong Kong and Canada, the singer-songwriter and brings a jovial personality, humorous stories from the road, and vibrant, edgy sounds to the stage.

Imagine a hybrid of Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Red Hot Chilli Peppers and you get an idea of his style.

King previously released two EPs and toured Canada, Australia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Brazil. He’s performed with Paul Dempsey, Whitehorse, Sloan, Elliot Broode, The Jerry Cans, and Blackie and The Rodeo Kings.

His music has been played on the CBC and Serious XM and his videos for What Am I Doing, It Ain’t Easy, Share This Moment and Slow Down can be seen on YouTube.
