Red Deer resident Simon Gorman, 22, realized a long-time dream on Sunday, free falling from an airplane soaring high over Central Alberta.

“I’ve been wanting to go for about 10 years,” Gorman said.

After watching a video and going through a few basic training exercises, Gorman and the other jumpers at Skydive Big Sky, located near Innisfail, were escorted to the plane and buckled in for a jump from about 3,800 metres.

Gorman said he and the instructor were in a free fall for about 1,800 metres before the chute was deployed.

“It was absolutely amazing,” he said. “I would definitely love to go again.”
