Smart Thermostat Rebate launches in Red Deer

$50 rebate available to Red Deer residents

Red Deer residents who purchase and install a smart thermostat can apply for a rebate through a new program launched by the City of Red Deer.

The Smart Thermostat Rebate Program, developed to help Red Deerians decrease energy consumption and support them to improve energy efficiency in their homes, offers a $50 rebate to those who replace their home thermostat with a smart thermostat.

“In addition to improving home comfort, there are environmental and financial benefits to using smart thermostats,” said Phil Boehme, community development co-ordinator, in a statement.

“Participants could see a reduction in energy use of up to 12 per cent. Saving energy is one way to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to climate change.”

The Smart Thermostat Rebate program supports the energy-related goals in the City’s Environmental Master Plan by reducing Red Deerians energy use.

Rebates are available to Red Deer residents only, and a maximum of one rebate is available per utility account. The deadline for applications for this rebate program is Dec. 31, 2023.

More information and online rebate application forms are available at www.reddeer.ca/thermostat.
