A snowfall warning is in effect for Central Alberta with 10 to 20 cm of snow expected over the next few days.
Environment Canada issued the warning at 4:15 a.m. today and it extends to late Friday night.
The warning goes out to Red Deer, Lacombe, Rocky Mountain House, Stettler, Three Hills, Sundre, and surrounding communities.
Environment Canada said a strong low pressure system off the Pacific Ocean will begin bringing snow to parts of western Alberta this morning. As the system moves slowly eastward, it will spread snow to the region.
Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
