A youth is in custody after a social media post threatened Hunting Hills High School.

Red Deer RCMP were called to the school in east Red Deer to investigate the alleged threat towards the school. The school has been placed in a lockdown as a precautionary safety measure.

Police said there are no weapons involved in the incident and there was no immediate risk to staff, students or the public.

The investigation started after someone reported seeing a threat toward the school on social media. The post has since been removed.

Police have one youth in custody and continue to investigate.

Nearby Notre Dame High School was also placed under a lockdown during the incident Friday morning.

The lockdowns were lifted just before noon at both Hunting Hills and Notre Dame.

The investigation is in its early stages and more information will be released when it is available.
