Some areas of Red Deer may see water discolouration

Residents in Lancaster, Highland Green, Kentwood and other areas throughout Red Deer were without water for about 30 minutes on Thursday afternoon.

Residents in Lancaster, Highland Green, Kentwood and other areas throughout Red Deer were without water for about 30 minutes on Thursday afternoon.

The city is investigating the cause of the pump outages and suspect it is related to construction at the Water Treatment Plant.

Crews have since re-pressurized the system and no further issues are expected.

As the system re-pressurizes, sediment within the pipes can be stirred up and some residents may notice particles or discolouration in the water.

In this case, people are asked to run their taps until clear.

Residents may also wish to run a small, empty load through their washing machines before using them for clothes in case some discoloured water has entered their plumbing system.
