City of Red Deer workers will be removing dead trees at Heritage Ranch this month.
Work on the trails at Heritage Ranch will be underway from Monday to Friday of next week when city staff will be pruning and felling trees.
While most of the trails will remain open, trail users are advised to watch for crews working in the area.
“The felling and removal of these trees is limited to those that are dying and damaged to reduce risk for trail users and the public,” said Doug Evans, the city’s biodiversity supervisor.
“Assessing and removing damaged and dying trees is part of our regular urban forestry practices, and we always make every effort to remove as few trees as possible, and only those that are absolutely required.”
Citizens are urged to avoid areas where parks staff are doing this work.
