Red Deer’s dancing ambassador Spandy Andy is opening a fitness and dance studio in Trochu to encourage central Albertans to get fit and have fun.

A July 1 open house for Studio on Main, located at 210 Main St., is set for 1 p.m., followed by a ribbon cutting with the Mayor Barry Kletke at 2 p.m.

The video star and street performer, who has entertained in 30 different countries, said dance fitness will be the focus to motivate and bring people together to live their happiest, healthiest lives.

“It’s closer to zumba meets Richard Simmons. I’m the new Richard Simmons,” Andy laughed.

“I just finished getting trained in senior’s chair fitness with the Alberta Fitness Association so I’m hoping to add seniors fitness to the lineup. I hear there’s a lot of seniors in Trochu.”
