Wind warning in effect for Red Deer, central Alberta

A wind warning is in effect for Red Deer and central Alberta.

Environment Canada website states strong northwest winds for southeastern Alberta are expected Monday night.

Winds gusting up to 90 km/h will develop in the Red Deer and Stettler areas this evening. These strong wind gusts will sweep to the southeast reaching the international border near midnight. Winds will taper off from the north overnight.

Local blowing snow may cause poor visibility with these strong winds.

Environment Canada says drivers should be prepared for poor travel conditions.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected in Red Deer Monday with cloudy conditions this afternoon with a 60 per cent chance of rain or wet snow late this afternoon. Risk of freezing rain late this afternoon.

Snow and blowing snow ending after midnight Monday then mainly cloudy.
