A Red Deer non-profit organization will hold an event honouring the loss of loved ones during the pandemic next month

The Safe Harbour Society will host its Community Spring Feast May 14 at Fort Normandeau, from noon to 5 p.m.

The event has a theme of grieving and honouring the loss of loved ones during COVID-19. Attendees are asked to bring their own feast bag with dishes, containers, napkins. They should also bring a chair or blanket, and anything else to make their day more comfortable.

The event will run rain or shine. There will be no disposables or styrofoam at this green feast.

All nations are welcome.

Sweat lodges will run at 5 p.m. — from May 11 (women’s sweat), May 12 (men’s sweat), May 13 (co-ed sweat) and May 14 (community and helpers sweat). Participants are asked to be aware of and to honour sweat lodge and feast protocols.
