The STARS Critical Care on the Air Radiothon is set to get underway Wednesday.

The fundraiser will be broadcast from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. across 27 stations in Alberta, including in Central Alberta on Zed 98.9 and Real Country.

“This exciting fundraising event will shine a light on the life-saving work STARS carries out every day across Alberta and will feature inspiring stories from STARS crew, Very Important Patients, and their families,” said Terri Strunk, STARS chief fundraising and brand officer.

“The radiothon will also illustrate how support from businesses, community organizations, and individuals make STARS’ critical care possible.”

STARS carries out an average of ten missions per day across Western Canada and flew 1,667 missions in Alberta last year. Funds raised through this event will support ongoing operations.

To donate to the fundraiser, call the Plains Midstream phoneline at 1-877-507-8277 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., text STARS to 45678, or go to criticalcareontheair.ca to find a full list of participating radio stations.
