STARS was sent to a ranch in the Bowden area to help a woman involved in a horse riding accident on Monday evening.

Spokesman Mike Haska said on Tuesday that a STARS crew from Calgary was dispatched just before 6 p.m. to the area of Hwy 587 and Range Road 282 in response to a woman who fell from her horse.

The woman was transported to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary for treatment.

Bowden Fire Chief Larry Werner said the woman was riding in an arena at a ranch when she was thrown off the horse and into the boards.

The woman’s condition is unknown but Werner believed she was transported by STARS more as a precaution than anything else.

Bowden Fire provided landing zone assistance for STARS.
