The Red Deer Emergency Management Committee, made up of council members, declared an end to the emergency state at 11:45 a.m.

According to a city release at noon Sunday, water levels on the Red Deer River were continually decreasing, dropping more than 40 centimetres since their peak, recorded at 9 p.m. Saturday night.

An evacuation order that had been made on Saturday afternoon for residents of 40th Avenue adjacent to the McKenzie Trail Recreation Area was also lifted on Sunday morning.

Evacuation orders were still in place for the Lions Campground. Access to the city’s riverside trail system and the CPR Bridge was still blocked off, and Fountain Drive near Bower Ponds also remained closed.

Riverside Drive north of 67th Street, closed on Saturday evening, has been reopened.
