Two people have been arrested following a joint-forces investigation between Stettler RCMP and ALERT Red Deer.

In October 2021, local community concerns related to drug trafficking led the RCMP to begin the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP executed a search warrant on a property in Stettler, where 300 grams of methamphetamine, along with a small amount of cocaine and $2,075 cash was located. The estimated street value of the drugs is nearly $30,000.

On Thursday, a 57-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. The man is also charged with drug trafficking.

“This amount of drugs had the potential to cause significant harm to a community like Stettler,” said Staff Sgt. Bruce Holliday, with Stettler RCMP.

“Working with ALERT, we were able to address the issue in a timely manner and take these drugs off the street.”

Members of the public who suspect drug or gang activity in their community can call local police or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is always anonymous.
