Stettler RCMP arrested and charged a man after responding to a break-and-enter in progress in Stettler.

At 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a call reporting a break-and-enter at a local business. Police say a witness saw a man breaking in and called 911.

Police arrived and arrested a man, who allegedly fought the officers and struck one of them in the face.

The man was arrested and brought to a local hospital to be assessed. Police say the man continued to be “erratic and violent,” which led to additional charges.

Brian Edward Warman, 46, of Castor, is facing a number of charges, including assaulting a police officer, break and enter, possession of break-in tools and mischief over $5,000.

After a judicial interim release hearing, Warman was remanded into custody and will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Tuesday.
