Stettler RCMP investigating garage explosion

A 54-year-old man was injured in a garage explosion in Stettler Thursday morning.

Stettler RCMP responded to a 11:30 a.m. 911 call, reporting that a building “blew up” in the industrial area east of the town, police said in a press release.

Officers and the Stettler Regional Fire Department are on scene at 47 Avenue and 41 Street. The area is being contained while emergency crews work on the site.

STARS Air Ambulance will fly the man injured in the incident to an Edmonton hospital.

Police say the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing.
