A Sundre man faces charges after a stolen truck was abandoned in Olds.

Olds RCMP said they recently received a complaint from the public about an abandoned truck parked near the John Deere dealership in Olds. Further investigation revealed the truck was stolen from Camrose.

RCMP said witnesses told police the driver of the truck was at a nearby motel, and the suspect was arrested without incident.

A 25-year-old Sundre man has been charged with theft over $5,000, theft under $5,000, improper use of a licence plate, driving an uninsured motor vehicle on the highway, two counts of possession of stolen property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5,000, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order condition.

He was remanded into custody to appear in Canmore Provincial Court on Aug. 26.

The RCMP are continuing to investigate and are asking the public to come forward if they have any information related to these incidents.
