Another person involved in a collision near Rimbey has died in hospital, bringing the total to three killed including two children.

The crash occurred Sunday afternoon on Hwy 20 near Township Road 420. Rimbey RCMP were called to the scene at 1 p.m.

Police confirmed Monday that three had been killed in the crash, the driver of the northbound car was killed on scene and the two children – passengers in the southbound SUV – died one on scene and one in hospital.

At the time of the crash the highway was icy and police said the car lost control and the SUV could not avoid a collision.

There was a family of five in the car. All four were taken to Red Deer hospital with the child being flown by STARS Air Ambulance.

The names of the deceased are not being released by police.

Hwy 20 was closed during the investigation and has since been re-opened.
