Sunday Red Deer election forum on diversity, inclusion cancelled

A Red Deer election forum scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been cancelled.

The Red Deer Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Network was planning to host a forum focusing on diversity, inclusion, equality and equity from 2-4 p.m. at Festival Hall.

“Due to the unavailability of some candidates, we will not be holding the forum as planned,” the network said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

“Instead we will ask all the candidates questions formed last Thursday by WIC members and they will respond in writing by 5 p.m. Their responses will be posted as notes to the Red Deer WIC Network Facebook page. Sorry to all that were planning to attend.”

A separate Facebook post said the network has “waited for responses, but have not received a substantial number of confirmations.”
