A suspect is in custody after a man was pepper-sprayed and assaulted in Red Deer on Tuesday.
RCMP responded to an assault with a weapon complaint at about 7 p.m., in the Glendale area of Red Deer.
Police allege that a man entered an apartment unit and sprayed a man with bear spray. The suspect then physically assaulted the victim.
When police arrived, a suspect fled on foot but was caught nearby and taken into custody. The suspect and victim are known to each other, RCMP said.
A 23-year-old male from Red Deer faces charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a restricted weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The male, who cannot be named until an information is sworn, was released from custody and is to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Feb. 15.
