Police are investigating an armed robbery at the Aladdin Motor Inn in Red Deer at about 1:15 a.m. Friday.

Const. Sabrina Grunow said a man with his face concealed and brandishing a tool entered the motel office at 7444 Gaetz Ave. and demanded money. The male fled with a quantity of cash and was last seen going over a fence in the southwest corner of the parking lot.

Grunow said it is unclear what the man had used to conceal his face and that she could not be more specific about what type of tool he used.

Police officers and a police dog were unable to find the suspect after a search of the area and believe he may have been picked up by a vehicle.

The suspect is described as a male between 168 and 173 centimetres (5 ft 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches) tall wearing a black hooded sweater, grey and black gloves and blue jeans.
