Suspect sought in drug case

Red Deer RCMP are looking for a third suspect following three search warrants in Red Deer that netted two arrests, $40,000 in drugs and $1,230 in cash on April 3.

Police executed the search warrants on a south Red Deer apartment building and two storage lockers in north Red Deer.

Over $40,000 worth of drugs were seized, including more than one kg of marijuana; 641 grams of cannabis resin; 477 grams of psilocybin; 83 oxycodone tablets and nearly four kg of an unidentified substance believed to be a cutting agent. As well, $1,230 in cash was seized.

Two people, a man age 26 and a woman age 22, face a combined eight drug-related charges.

A warrant has been issued for another man, also 26, to face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking marjiuana and possession of marijuana. He also faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of possession of ammunition while prohibited.

The search warrants were executed as a result of a drug trafficking investigation by Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT).

ALERT’s Red Deer combined forces special enforcement unit (CFSEU), with Red Deer RCMP and K Division RCMP emergency response team, executed the search warrants.

CFSEU-Red Deer is an ALERT team established and funded by the Alberta government to tackle serious and organized crime. Nearly 400 municipal police, RCMP, and sheriffs work for ALERT.
