Two people are dead following an overnight stabbing at a work camp in northern Alberta.

FOX CREEK — Two people are dead following an overnight stabbing at a work camp in northern Alberta.

RCMP say Mounties shot and wounded a suspect near Fox Creek, 260 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.

Officers found two men dead at the scene and the wounded suspect was taken into custody.

The stabbings occurred at an oil industry work camp known as Berland Open operated by Canada North Group Inc.

Canada North issued a statement on behalf of one of its companies called DJ Catering Ltd., expressing condolences.

It says the company is deeply saddened by what happened.

“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s families at this time,” reads the statement.
