Suspects arrested after robbery attempt at red light in Red Deer

RCMP arrested two suspects after someone tried to rob a driver while he was stopped at a red light in Red Deer on Friday.

RCMP said that at 9 a.m. that day, they responded to a disturbance in the area of 60th Street and 54th Avenue where two men had attempted to rob a man who was stopped in his vehicle at a red light on 60 Street. The victim sustained a minor injury to his hand.

Police located the suspects sitting on the grounds of a nearby school and one suspect surrendered immediately when arrested. The second suspect engaged in a struggle with officers before being taken into custody.

The suspect who allegedly resisted arrest was assessed on scene by Emergency Services staff and cleared to be taken into custody.

The two suspects, ages 20 and 26, now face robbery charges.
