Red Deer RCMP are looking for suspects who were driving a stolen car that hit a cyclist in Riverside Meadows on Wednesday night.

Shortly before 10 p.m., officers located a stolen Toyota Corolla as it drove along Holmes Street. When police activated their emergency lights, the stolen car drove off at a high rate of speed.

Officers did not pursue the vehicle for public safety reasons, but tracked the vehicle at a distance as other officers prepared to intercept the suspects.

The cyclist, believed to have suffered minor injuries, was treated at the scene by Red Deer Emergency Services personnel.

The suspect vehicle did not stop and was found abandoned on 56th Avenue.

Police Dog Services were called in to search the area. A dog was able to track the suspects movements along 56th Avenue and into a field, but was unable to locate them.

RCMP believe there were two people in the stolen car.
