Suspects use masks, shotgun and baton to rob Capri Centre VLT lounge

Red Deer City RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying three individuals involved in an armed robbery at the Capri Centre on Sunday morning.

The culprits allegedly drove up to the hotel in a stolen burgundy Dodge Spirit with the Alberta licence plate EXT042 around 10:20 a.m.

They parked in front of the doors to the VLT lounge. One person remained in the car while two males with concealed faces entered the lounge.

One man was carrying a shotgun and the other carried an extendable baton.

The shotgun was then loaded and pointed at employees while the suspects shouted instructions to staff.

The men went behind the bar and took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing in the waiting vehicle. The car was last seen southbound in the Capri parking lot.

There were about 15 people, including staff, in the lounge at the time of the robbery. No one was physically harmed.

Police are looking for three suspects who are described as follows”

• The first suspect, who was carrying the shotgun, is a Caucasian male possibly in his 20s. He stands about 1.78 metres (five-feet, 10-inches) tall and weighs around 91 kg (200 pounds). He has a brownish blonde mustache and was wearing dark sunglasses, a white or light grey hoodie with the hood up, white gloves, white shoes and dark coloured pants.

• The second suspect, who was carrying the extendable baton, is a Caucasian male possibly in his 20s. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a white or light grey hoodie with the hood up, white gloves, possibly a black baseball cap under the hood, grey pants and grey shoes.

• The third suspect, the driver of the car, is a black male with short black hair. He is heavy set and possibly in his 20s. He was wearing a burgundy sweater or hoodie.
