A wild car accident Thursday afternoon left an SUV parked in the middle of a Maryview School classroom amid a pile of rubble and scattered papers.

RCMP said the driver was heading west on a service road next to 39th Street when he had an undisclosed medical emergency. His vehicle swerved across 39th Street and slammed into the west side of the school about 5:20 p.m.

The SUV smashed through a wall and came to rest in the middle of the classroom, which fortunately was empty at the time. Photos of the scene show desks and school work thrown about amid chunks of concrete blocks and other debris.

The 52-year-old driver and a 35-year-old female passenger were not injured in the crash. No charges are being laid.
