Desperate to get into the swing of things, River Bend Golf and Recreation Area assistant golf professional Troy Gibb got in a few chip shots Wednesday. Heavy snow and a long cold winter have put back the opening date of all golf courses in Central Alberta. The driving range at River Bend should be open for business next weekend weather permitting says Gibb, with the golf course opening five to seven days after that. The golf season began on April 4th in 2010 says Gibb but with the deep snow and cold weather through February and March it was inevitable the season would start later this year he added.
