Search For Light meet the artist — Janice Williams — on Dec. 4 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Snell Auditorium at the downtown library. Using the landscape and quality of light, the artist works from an emotional reaction to light versus shadow. As we naturally gravitate towards light, the shadows provide a foreboding while the light provides contrast with renewal, life and joy. Charity CheckStopis planned by the Red Deer City RCMP for Dec. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Taylor Drive just north of 32 Street. Members of the city RCMP and volunteers from MADD, the Christmas Bureau, the Red Deer Food Bank and many others will be collecting cash donations, non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys and new mitts, scarves and hats.
Stepping up for the kids, Red Deer Firefighters children’s charity, will be held on Dec. 5 from noon to 5 p.m. at Bower Place Mall. Businesses and individuals are invited to pledge money for every flight of stairs climbed on a stair climber by the Red Deer Firefighters.
