Opening reception for Deja-view: a year of artwork, a look back on Erika Schultz’s and Jeri-Lynn Ing’s one a day challenge in 2009. Both artists completed one piece of artwork every day in 2009 and this exhibit will be a commentary on their experience. Reception goes on Feb. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Gallery IS . Closing reception for Building Texture, by Calgary fabric artist Vickie Newington, will take place in the Kiwanis Gallery of the Red Deer Public Library on Feb. 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. The artist explores texture with a contemporary eye using a wide variety of materials and techniques. Red Deer Independent Film Group’s Reel Movie Mondays continue with Creation on Feb. 8 at Cineplex Galaxy Theatre at 7 p.m. A film based on the life of Charles Darwin, which explores the hypothesis that history is written more by the inner workings of the heart, rather than sticking to science. Tickets at the door cost $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Behaviour Management presentation and discussion with behaviour consultant Keir Kutney will be offered by the Learning Disabilities Association on Feb. 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Parents will gain an understanding of why kids misbehave and a process that allows even the most difficult behaviours to be managed effectively.
