Red Deer Area Hikers meet Sept. 2 at the north side of the Red Deer Curling Club parking lot at 8:30 a.m. to depart for a five km hike at Open Creek in Rimbey. Hike will be cancelled if raining or about to rain. Bring lunch. Phone Art at 403-347-5778, or Jim at 403-347-1684.

First Thursdays in the Snell offer free chamber music concerts from 12:15 to 1 p.m. at Red Deer Public Library Downtown Branch in the Snell Auditorium on the first Thursday of each month. Café Noir will sponsor the series and provide free coffee and tea. Bring lunch, or purchase at the café. Sept. 2 event features violinist Naomie Delafield and pianist Chery Cooney as musical guests.
