Reynold’s Alberta Museum Harvest Festival in Wetaskiwin runs on Sept. 5 and 6. Visitors can see vintage agricultural machinery in action and demonstrations of fieldwork, including steam traction engines, bread baking and learn about urban farming with Jim Hole of Hole’s Greenhouses on Sunday. Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors $5 for youth age seven to seventeen and $20 for families; free for children under six. Bashaw Historical Society annual general meeting will take place on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at Bashaw Neighbourhood Place. Old, former, young and new members are most welcome. Yearly membership is $10. Volunteers are needed to prepare the Bashaw and District: 100 Years of Memories, history book to be published in 2010. First Friday Opening Reception for Donna Herrick in celebration of her exhibit “the accidental nature of much that appears” will be held on Sept. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the alleyscape studio. This Lacombe artist works consist of a series of small collages in prints and metalwork which will be on display at the gallery until Oct. 10. Walking With Your Grief — Walk ‘N’ Talk is a free drop-in on Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Red Deer Hospice. Volunteers accompany participants on a mild 30 minute walk around Anders on the Lake, followed by light refreshments. Information session on human trafficking will be offered on Sept. 8 at The Salvation Army at 7 p.m. Human trafficking is the second greatest and fastest growing criminal activity in the world today. David Bouchard of Magdalene House Society will present information to create awareness of this tragedy, and shed light on what can be done about it. There is no cost to attend.
