Building permit values in Sylvan Lake remain steady, with continued growth.

The value of building permits at the end of July 2019, are recorded at $30.7 million, compared to $21.4 million at the same time last year. To date, the monthly building permit average sits around $3.6 million per month.

Residential permits lead the way, and were boosted by a 98-unit apartment/multi-family building, valued at $14.6 million.

A recent ATB Economics report indicates that the value of building permits issued by Alberta municipalities in June 2019, was down 31.3 per cent from the year previous – indicating that the province’s economy continues to struggle.

Sylvan Lake appears to be bucking the trend; a combination of strong strategic planning, as well as location, are potential factors in our ability to maintain steady growth, says Ken Kalirai, director of planning and development.

“Sylvan Lake has some wonderful new development opportunities available – the town is open for business, and our energetic team is here to facilitate development, and work with investors and builders through the application process.”
