A Sylvan Lake man faces child pornography charges after an investigation by RCMP and a special unit that investigates child exploitation.

Investigators allege that a suspect possessed and created child pornography that was available on the Internet. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with a number of child pornography-related offences.

The suspect was released from custody on certain conditions. He cannot have contact with any child under the age of 16, and must not have any access to a computer or the Internet.

Andrew John Tettersell, 33, has been charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, making child pornography available and making child pornography. He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Jan. 14.

The integrated child exploitation unit is part of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team, an umbrella organization created by the province to bring together Alberta’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources to tackle serious and organized crime. The team is comprised of nearly 400 municipal police, sheriffs and RCMP officers.

Anyone with any information on the alleged offences is asked to contact Const. Graeme Sloane at 1-403-206-8766.
