A Sylvan Lake man has been charged after a speeding Porsche rear-ended a Volkswagen on Hwy 20 near Sylvan Lake late Thursday.

The vehicle that was struck then spun out of control into the path of a southbound tractor trailer unit carrying oilfield service equipment.

No one was seriously injured in the crash, although both the Porsche and the Volkswagen sustained heavy damage.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Hwy 20 and the Aspelund Road. Traffic was disrupted for an hour for the investigation and cleanup.

Sylvan Lake RCMP say the driver of the Porsche provided a breath sample that measured four times the legal alcohol limit.

Robert D.J. Ritchie, 39, is charged with impaired driving, driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 and dangerous driving.

Ritchie was released from custody on $2,500 cash bail, along with other conditions.

He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on June 27.
