Sylvan Lake RCMP are seeking public assistance after two men robbed a convenience store at gunpoint on Monday morning.

Two men entered the convenience store on Lakeshore Drive at about 7:30 a.m., brandishing long-barreled firearms.

The suspects, who were caught on surveillance camera, demanded that cash from the register be put into a black backpack. They later fled in a dark coloured four-door car.

It’s believed a third suspect was driving.

Although there were several store employees on shift, no one was injured during the robbery.

Both suspects who entered the store are Caucasian males.

The first man was of average height, wearing a blue hoodie with black sleeves and hood, grey RDS-brand sweat pants with cargo pockets, and white high-top shoes. He was brandishing a sawed off shotgun with a wooden stock and sling.

The second was of shorter height. He was wearing a beige jacket (possibly a work jacket), a long black t-shirt, dark blue jeans, a white baseball cap, and black skateboard shoes with a white sole. He was carrying a .22 calibre rifle.

No description is available of the driver.

Anyone with information, or who recognizes these suspects, is asked to call the Sylvan Lake RCMP at 403-858-7200 or any local detachment. Those wanting to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or internet at www.tipsubmit.com, or by SMS.
