An on-going shortage of doctors is once again cutting down the operating hours of Sylvan Lake’s Advanced Ambulatory Care service.
According to the Town of Sylvan Lake’s Facebook page, the Sylvan Lake Community Health Centre (Urgent/Ambulatory Care) will be closed between 2 -11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and again on Monday, July 17, because no doctors are available to staff it.
The services will also be unavailable all day on Tuesday, July 18.
Some community members commented on their frustration with the situation, urging residents to petition their MLA.
Repeat shut-downs of the local health centre due to low staffing prompted one woman to comment: “So sad that a town that is growing as fast as we are … cannot attract at least one doctor… Even a locum to cover these doctor shortages would be welcome.”
Another town resident added, “I’ll try not get hurt over the coming days to avoid a visit.”
