Sylvan Lake’s Lakewood Golf Resort continues to grow.

The nine-hole course just east of the town has been adding another nine holes and the 18-hole track is expected to be ready for golfers in 2023.

On Tuesday, Red Deer County’s municipal planning commission approved an application by golf course owner Darcy Carruthers to build a new driving range. It will be located just north of Township Road 391 across from the entrance to the golf course.

The golf course has also been busy adding new RV spots in recent years. Forty RV spots were added in 2017 and another 40 in 2019.

In December 2019, the municipal planning commission approved up to 70 more RV spots and the expansion to 18 holes.

Construction on the new nine holes is well underway. Lakewood posted photos of some of the work on its website and said the bulk of the work will be done this year, will continue early next year with players able to hit the links in mid-2023.
